My 20 Year Old Son Had A Routine Physical With

My 20 year old son had a routine physical with blood work. Lab results came back with a bilirubin of 46 umol/L. As a new born he was jaundice for several weeks to a month. No treatment was done but several trips to the dr to test his blood. It finally went away and we were not aware that there was a problem until now, nearly 21 years later. Could he have suffered some kind of damage to his liver as a new born?
