My 22 Year Old Has Been On Divalproex For The

My 22 year old has been on Divalproex for the past 7 weeks because she was originally diagnosed with bipolar in June. The drug is causing serious weight gain and major acne and not improving her mood. She asked her psychiatrist (two visits) to get off the drug and he said absolutely not. She went to her GP to get a referral for another psychiatrist and the GP noted that the current psychiatrist sent a note saying she did not have bipolar but she must stay on the drugs. Her GP won't take her off the drug but did refer her to another psychiatrist which is going to take three months to see!
