My 24 Year Old Son Has Had A Stomach Virus

My 24 year old son has had a stomach virus today with vomiting and diarea which have finally subsided after 5 0r 6 times of vomiting . His fever was about 102. He hasn't eaten all day so he mostly had dry heaves with clear liquid. Can this cause heartburn from the stomach acids ?
