My 3 Yr. Old Grandson Shot Himself In The Head

My 3 yr. old grandson shot himself in the head it was the left side at the thick part of the eyebrow and came out the back they are saying that he possibly will have dead brain on that side what is the prognosis since he is so young and can his brain regenerate or will he be left with severe damage
