My 34 Year Old Son Is Experiencing Severe Lower Back

My 34 year old son is experiencing severe lower back pain radiating into his legs. He has shortness of breath and feels that he may pass out. He also has tingling in his hands. When he lays down he feels better. The ER just ruled out a heart problem and discharged him but he is having trouble attempting to drive. Could he have a serious spinal cord pressure issue that requires that he return to the ER?
