My 6 Year Old Son Has White Itchy Tongue Tip

My 6 year old son has white itchy tongue tip that is also stinging. I took him to his pcp and diagnosed h8m with a virus of the tongue and said it would go away. But he had this before Halloween and now it's back and affecting his eating and sleep. Please help.
