My 65=year=old Husband Has Had Several Compression Fractures (he'd Been

My 65=year=old husband has had several compression fractures (he'd been previously very healthy). Tried to lift his Goldwing motorcycle (twice!) on to the center stand on gravel...that motorcycle didn't like that idea, gravel is too unstable to put up on the center stand! He's now on oxycodone for pain. Is there something else he can take rather than a narcotic. He also had had colon perforation from taking too many NSAIDs without enough water and on an empty stomach when he first got the compression fracture. He's down to 1 oxycodone a day (in order to get out of bed) but would like to get completely off narcotics. He is still working as a Corrections Officer.
