My 66yo Spouse Is Having R Back Pain That Radiates

My 66yo spouse is having r back pain that radiates to the r side and to the right front liver area. Dr here is unsure as to where to refer him to. They are going to do an ultrasound of the abd. He also has cracked ribs as determin we d by chest x-ray since Oct. Could a rib have punctured something,or appendices, AAA. What do you think? He has constant pain,4-5 out of a 10 all the time.
