My 6yr Old Has A Soft Lump Along His Spine

My 6yr old has a soft lump along his spine closers towards his lower back. He has a fever that I am claiming to be a result of a tooth he has growing in. He is moving around fine and it does not hurt when I touch or press on it lightly. I plan to try to get in to see his doc asap but what are some possibilities?
