My 72year Old Brother Is Complaining Of Tingling And Numbness

My 72year old brother is complaining of tingling and numbness in both hands and feet. He states it began somewhat abruptly a few weeks ago. He states he has no discoloration. He has a history of type 2diabetes and hen and is on po meds for these. What could be causing this? Thank you.
