My 73 Year Old Mother-in-law Had Surgery To Drain Fluid

My 73 year old mother-in-law had surgery to drain fluid and blood from her brain the day before yesterday. One bleed was 9mm(right side) the other was 6mm (left). Yesterday she slept all day. Today she is more awake but not eating or drinking much. I am worried that her recovery will take a very long time and we are in a different state than we live in. how can I get her to become motivated to do what she needs to do so we can go home?
