My 78 Year Old Mother Had A Squamous Cell Carcinoma

My 78 year old Mother had a squamous cell carcinoma removed from her lower left leg about 5 weeks ago and it still looks very red, swollen, oozing a small amount of clear to slightly yellowish discharge, and has a very fowl odor. The doctor keeps telling us that it's just going to take time. Should we ask for a referral to a wound specialist?
