My 79 Yr Old Friend Had A Stroke Dec, 2014

My 79 yr old friend had a stroke Dec, 2014 and paralyzed his left side. He can now feed himself and he can talk, but his mind and emotions have regressed a bit. He needs a hoyer lift to get out of bed and he wears diapers. He sometimes uses a bedpan. Lately, when he poops, he will touch it and his hands are a mess. I've seen it on the bed rail and various places. Why would he do that? He says he's bored - but there's gotta be a reason for doing something so gross. He was very intelligent prior to his stroke. I have no idea what's happening.
