My 8 Yr. Old Daughter Was Diagnosed With A Bad

My 8 yr. old daughter was diagnosed with a bad ear infection earlier today. We just now discovered that she has a yellowish / white drainage coming from that ear. Is this normal for a bad ear infection, or is she in danger of having a ruptured eardrum or something of that severe nature? She was given a shot of an antibiotic by the Dr. and is also taking Cefprozil 250mg.
