My 88 Year Old Mother Has Been Taking Clarithromycin For

My 88 year old mother has been taking clarithromycin for a chest infection for 5 days with no improvement. She was given a 7 day course but as there has been no improvement in her condition I was wondering if I need to contact her GP for a further course. How long does a chest infection take to get better in someone of her age.
