My 88-year Old Mother Was Diagnosed With Early Stage Alzheimer's

My 88-year old mother was diagnosed with early stage Alzheimer's in July, 2016. She has been taking donepezil for about 5 months & just told me that she has been having very bad dreams. Would it help if the dosage was decreased, is there an alternative medication or should she just discontinue the drug?
