My 9 Month Old Grandson Has Had Runny Ear Wax

My 9 month old grandson has had runny ear wax around the inner part of ear. He now has a cold. His Dr 2 months ago said it was normal but not sure if my daughter in law told me that to apease me. I gave him some children Tylenol but he is miserable. This is actually 1st cold. Anything you would suggest? No temperature that we can tell. Thank you
