My 92 Yr Old Mother Recently Had A Problem With

My 92 yr old mother recently had a problem with excessive mucus for months before the doctor finally gave her an antibiotic which seemed to heal her. Now it seems to be coming back and I am worried. She may need another antibiotic or is this symptomatic of a more serious problem?
