My 95 Year Old Father Has Had A Pacemaker For

My 95 year old father has had a pacemaker for several years with no problem and yesterday and today he is experiencing a few shocks below the actual pacemaker site. It is not a defibrylator. Is this serious? Should I take him to the hospital?
