My Dad Has Been Seeing Black Spots In One Of

My Dad has been seeing black spots in one of his eyes. He has had a lot of dizzy spells, and we know he has passed out once today, possibly before at home, as he has said he has fallen. He is an alcoholic, but I'm not sure if it's related. Can you tell me if this is something we should have checked out urgently?
