My Dad is 86 years old, congestive heart failure and copd, lower legs lymphedema, had a stent placed last week, and cardiologist told us today his heart squeeze rate is 10-20% Post hospital, diet changes including low sodium and low fat diet. He is an alcoholic and has not had a drink for over 1 1/2 weeks. Doc ordered physical therapy and another echo in 6 weeks. Takes multiple diuretics, and now includes Plavix. Sleeps a lot, seems to also have alcohol related dementia. Heart doc says numbers should not matter, its quality of life. I understand that, but what are we looking at? do not believe he would be a candidate for a bypass...
