My Mother Was Just Diagnosed With Mesenteric Panniculitis... I Have

My Mother was just diagnosed with Mesenteric panniculitis... I have been all over the internet trying to figure this out... (I live across country from her now and feel helpless with out knowledge) could you please, please in layman's terms explain what we are dealing with and what severity this condition is (is it chronic? Will she have it forever? will she heal?) and what measures are normally taken to treat MP? Please help me understand plainly. It all just sounds so scary.
