My Wife's Adult Son (47) Is Staying At Our Home

My Wife's adult son (47) is staying at our home after having his leg removed from leg blood clots due poor health habits and diabetes. He is also in the care of a pain management clinic for back pain. Currently taking methadone. My question is he is complaining of pain in his legs & back and cannot refill his prescription until Monday. He want to go to the Emergency room in hope they will give him pain meds. My first thought is they will not, and only suggest taking an over the counter pain relief, Tylenol or Advil. He does not have health insurance so a trip to the E-R would be costly and I feel not getting the result he expects.
