My Akita Will Start Licking His Mouth Constantly Without Stopping

My akita will start licking his mouth constantly without stopping and also in the process will lick his paws and the linen he is laying on. He has had two ulcers on his tongue in the past but never came back. He may be nervous also when he does this. He won't stop for hours and it is enough to make me irritable which takes a lot to do as he is my baby and my reason to live.
