My Ankle Has Been Hurting For 9 Months, It's Also

My ankle has been hurting for 9 months, it's also swells/hurts when I walk on it too long. Went to doctor and he said that it looks like it's stranged. Now 6 months later still having same problem even after he gave me medicine for the swelling. Can there possibly anything else wrong, do just need more medication for the swelling, the medicine did help?
