My Best Friend Was In An Accident Two Years Ago

My best friend was in an accident two years ago this month, underwent surgery on her knee, she's been waiting now for over two months to have surgery again, because she got an infection. All of the different meds that they have put her on has caused a new problem. How could this have happened?
