My Blood Pressure Has Been Up A Bit The Past

My blood pressure has been up a bit the past 24 hours or so...161/95 just moments ago...148/104.
local clinic said to double my daily dosage. I took one at noon and I still have the reading of 148/104.
Is this normal and will it take awhile for the second dosage to kick in?
