My Bottom Inner Lip Seems To Crack Down The Middle

My bottom inner lip seems to crack down the middle so often. When this first occurred the area surrounding it has turned red and the crack or split has went away. Just wondering why it's still red inside my lip only In that certain area? I'll rub my tongue across it and it has a metallic taste.
