My boy friends father is on Spirinolactone 12.5mg per day. He is also on Lasix 20 mg BID. I've been an RN for 42 years and wonder if they should be giving his additional kcl? His last potassium level was wnl a while back. His BNP is 205. He has CHF and is 92 years old. He was doing pretty well until he fell about 2 months ago and broke some ribs and vertebrae and is on Warfarin. I was a home health & hospice nurse for 24 years, but now recently retired. I understand that now the hospice must have blood work to prove that he's appropriate for to be put on hospice, though I believe he will definitely not survive past 6 months. He is currently on home health. He is declining rapidly. He is more confused, falling a lot, much more confused, has fallen the past two nights, having lightheadedness, very weak with ambulation. I feel that he should be on hospice and that they should check his k++ level. I also believe he's having terminal anxiety, and delirium. What I need to know is this: Is the Spirinolactone sufficient to cover the Lasix and do you believe he qualifies for hospice. Thanks for your help, Dodie
