My Boyfriend Consistently Burps Up Very Loud And Long Times

My boyfriend consistently burps up very loud and long times of belching with tightening of chest and difficulty breathing along with pain. I am going to make him an appointment with a gastronologist next week but this is a daily occurance. What can I do to ease the discomfort besides arm and hammer baking soda because omerazole and prilosec or nexium is not working either?
