My Boyfriend Has Lesions On One Ear With Scabsthat Bleed

My boyfriend has lesions on one ear with scabsthat bleed and swelling on the outer rim as well as some parts of the ear are shrunk as if they have been eaten or cut away. He saying it's been like this for a few years, only gradually getting worse. The ear is painful to the touch. What could this be? YYYY@YYYY
