My Boyfriend Is Taking Metoprolol For High Blood Pressure, He

My boyfriend is taking Metoprolol for high blood pressure, he was been feeling dizzy, confused, and very tired. He did stop taking his medication for a few months due to no insurance. We were told that he would feel dizzy for a few days. I have never seen him like this. Is this normal? Do I need to take him to the ER? Help, very worried.
