My Breath Randomly Catches At What Feels Like The Base

My breath randomly catches at what feels like the base of my voice-box. It happens intermittently, but with increasing frequency. It doesn't seem to have a trigger. Afterwords I am left with a brief feeling of tightness at the very top of my upper chest under the throat area. I feel like I can't get a proper breath, but my lungs themselves feel fine. I am not a smoker, I eat healthily, and other than one episode of allergic asthma 20 years ago I have never been an asthma sufferer.
