My Brother Is 59 & Started Having Seizures 7 Months

My brother is 59 & started having seizures 7 months ago which become more frequent. His doctor said he is not epileptic but has not said what's causing his seizures. My brother use to use method & but still an heavy drinker. So my question is could his seizures be caused by his history of addictions.
