My Cat Has Developed A Dime-sized Spot On The Top

My cat has developed a dime-sized spot on the top of her head in which the hair is much shorter than the surrounding hair. I also have a Havanese puppy, who has no symptoms and am concerned as to whether this might be mange, how to treat it, and if it is contagious so that my puppy might be affected.
