My Cat Seems To Be Coming Down With An Upper

My cat seems to be coming down with an upper respitory infection. Fever, sneezing runny nose and eyes. I have some penicillan from my own dr. Can I give him this at a much lower dose? Is it safe? Going to my vet right now is not in my finances. Just spent 400 on one of my other cats. Can you help me??
