My Child Has Been Diagnosed With ADHD. He Is Turning

My child has been diagnosed with ADHD. He is turning 9 in December. He is in a 2nd grade learning disability class of 7 children. He saw the neurologist today and was prescribed either Vayarin or Concerta. The choice was mine to decide which medication to use. I understand Vayarin takes a few months to really show results and Concerta results are immediate. The teacher finds him not focusing that well or motivated enough at times to learn. Which mediation would you suggest. He loves sports, enjoys going to school, goes early to play basketball before class but cannot focus well in class or process information in some areas.
