My Current Primary Doctor Wants To Change My Cholesterol Meds

My current primary doctor wants to change my cholesterol meds from lovastatin to lipator and did not tell me why the change has been recommended for me. I am a senior person at 76 years old have taken lovastatin for years and seem to be doing just fine. Do you have any thoughts that will clear my confusion on this med? Thank you for your time.
