My Dad Has Been Prescribed Naproxin Last Thursday For Severe

My dad has been prescribed Naproxin last Thursday for severe shoulder joint pain combined with bad front leg pain. He can barely walk. The pain is still severe. Can he take paracetamol?
I am encouraging him to go back to the doctor on Monday but wonder how we can get him pain free over the weekend? He is 80 in July
