My Dad Has These Strange White Lines In His Mouth,

My dad has these strange white lines in his mouth, accompanied by an olcer. There ia a very thin blueish-purple-y vein above the olcer, and he was complaining it was painful. However after he stretched his mouth a little the pain vanished. What is wrong with him?
