My Daughter Gave Birth To Her First Child On Monday

My daughter gave birth to her first child on Monday Sept. 14. She experienced severe swelling while pregnant. The swelling decreased somewhat after giving birth, until today. She is extremely swollen to the point of it being painful and her legs are hard with the skin being very tight. What can we do to alleviate this condition? Should she contact her physician? Is this a symptom of something serious? Thank you!
