My Daughter Had The Rook Portion Of Her Ear Pierced

My daughter had the rook portion of her ear pierced a few weeks ago. Just yesterday she was complaining that it hurt so I am assuming it's infected. Today, she noticed a decent sized hard painless lump on her head behind her ear. Any idea as to what the lump can be? causes?
