My Daughter Has Been Having Loose Stools For Over A

My daughter has been having loose stools for over a week today we have has over 8 bowel movements. 2 weeks ago she was constipated and hadn't had her bowels open in 10 days as her stool waa very hard. She was given high doses of lactulose. Could this be the cause or is it most like a gastrointestinal virus?
