My Daughter Has Had A Cough For 1 Week. I

My daughter has had a cough for 1 week. I took her to the doctor and they told me it is allergies. She is om medicine now, however I just noticed her 6 year old molars are coming in. Whenever she was a baby she would get a runny nose and cough when she would cut new teeth. Could this cough and runny nose be from her molars coming in and not allergies? The allergy medicine does not seem to be helping. She doesn't complain of pain, just the annoying cough.
