My Daughter Has Had Really Extreme Dry Skin Behind Her

My daughter has had really extreme dry skin behind her ears for a couple months now. I have been putting neosporin and other stuff and it helps but today I noticed she had what looks like a open sore on the top of the ear next to the head. It may not be might be fromthe ooozy stuff that has been there and glued her ear to her head. I don't want to pull it loose scared I'll rip it more. What could I do at home to clear it up or do I need to make a doctors visit?
