My Daughter In Law Went Into The Hospital Yesterday Due

My daughter in law went into the hospital yesterday due to an intestinal problems, now they are telling us it's Crohns. None of us know what this is and she is scheduled for surgery on Monday. She is only 51, what and how does this happen? She is in Florida, we are in California, it's so difficult to get info from there to here. This morning they were giving her meds for a migraine. Turned out it was for "gas" pain! Which she didn't have. What kind of surgery does a doctor do for this problem?
