My Daughter Just Turned 10 Years Old March 28th And

My daughter just turned 10 years old march 28th and she got her period yesterday. She has developed breasts and other signs of puberty. I am wondering if this is too young. She is a swimmer and I am concerned about her having her period, using tampons and dealing with this at her developmental age. I was wondering if pediatricians recommend using something to postpone or delay her menstrual cycle and if there are any safety concerns with this?
Please help.
