My Daughters Are Angry Because I Used Diphenhydramine HCL, 25mg.

My daughters are angry because I used diphenhydramine HCL, 25mg. iam an adult (88yrs) recc max dosage 6 tabs/day. I was using 4/day. Under pressure I changed to one claritan/day and 1/2 tabs 2x per day.
Claritan (24h/recc one per max) seems to me ineffective.
What would you do to maintain a good relationship with them?
I have Blue Cross/Blue Shield
