My doctor had me on 200mg. of atenolol for 4 years before they caught it, plus 40mg lisinopril 2xday then about a year ago added 5mg amlodipine 1xday. After catching the too much atenolol they reduced it to 100mg 1xday ,then50mg 1xday. They are having me come in every 5 or 6 weeks to see where we are. I have since April lost 44lbs., slowly and sensibly and have improved my fibromyalgia by 90% by giving up refined sugar. I am 77 years old, now weigh 202lbs., am 5feet5 in. tall and my blood pressure has been in the 140/80 range for a long time. I also take duloxetine HCL DR 30mg, 2 of them in am which now my insurance will not cover and I have read some people have a hard time getting off of it. Also, I take clopidogrel 75mg and pantoprazole40mg each 1xday as I had 2 TIAs in Jan., 2015. PLUS I take 15mg of mirtazapine ODT at bed. My insurance is Essence HMO which my doctor Charles Willey started. My concern is my heart and any damage that may have been done by the atenolol ( which I know slows the heart down) and are they doing this reducing the dosage the correct way? Good grief, when I list all these meds it's a lot. I also have had migraines for 60 years and have generic fioricet and generic zomig for those. I need to have prior authorization every 6 mo. for the generic fioricet as it is not recommended for folks over 65.
