My Doctor Has Told Me I May Have Early Signs

My doctor has told me I may have early signs of osteoarthritis in my hands. I've been having that pain more than just the mornings for probably the last couple weeks. Today, I have been getting severe pain in the fingers, palm, wrist, and now going up the arm to my armpit. Right hand only. What can this be?
